How Prices Move
Prices tick every 30 minutes. Three things decide each tick:
| Factor | Effect |
|---|---|
| Volatility | The random component, per stock |
| Mean reversion | 5% pull back toward the starting price every tick |
| Market pressure | Buying pushes up, selling pushes down, at most ±6% a tick |
A single tick can move a price by at most ±20%.
Mean reversion is the whole strategy. A stock far below its starting price is being pulled back up every tick, and one far above is being pulled down — which makes the extremes the interesting moments, not the calm ones.
Market pressure only counts on the
global economy. On a private economy your
trades don't move the price, so CRPT behaves the same whether one member is
trading or fifty.
